There aren't many big kids in Kentucky but there is one that is garnering a lot of attention this year. Trey James is a rare talent that you don't see much here in the Bluegrass state. The freshman is nicknamed the "Monster in the Middle" and once you see him play, you'll know why. James is currently listed at 6'10", 225 lbs and this is just his 1st year at Sheldon Clark High.
He is very active for a big man on both ends of the floor. Finishes at the rim well, mostly with a thunderous dunk but also has soft touch with his short jumper. Has impressive passing ability as well. Uses good defensive positioning and blocks or alters most shots at the rim. Trey also runs the floor well for a player his size.
James is currently averaging a triple double (12 .2 pts, 11.7 rebs, 10 blks) thus far this season for Sheldon Clark. He is also fifth in the state for rebounding average. With numbers like that, no wonder college coaches are salivating about his potential. Trey hasn't received any offers yet but he is receiving interest from schools like Xavier, West Virginia, Indiana, Marshall, Morehead St., Western Kentucky and Northern Kentucky. He will definitely receive more notice and start to see offers once he begins AAU play this spring and summer with Team Manimal. If he is not on most coaches radar, they better get ready because James is a high major talent.
