Zion Harmon may only be a freshman but he probably has the most notable name coming into this high school season. Harmon has been a staple on the AAU/travel scene basketball since he was a 4th grader. Zion has had an incredible rise to stardom, especially over the last 3 years.
In 2016, Zion went on to become the first 7th grader to play in the prestigious Nike EYBL circuit with WACG. Playing in the EYBL was where he really began to show how special he was a player. Playing the PG on a seasoned team with older players that respected his game, Zion had a solid year for his first year in the EYBL. After his EYBL, experience, Harmon started his 8th grade year at Bowling Green High in Bowling Green, KY. He had a special year that was capped off with winning the KHSAA Sweet 16 State Championship in Rupp Arena. This past summer, he played in the EYBL with Boo Williams and was equally effective. He ended the summer making the USA Basketball U16 squad. He will now be taking his talents to Adair County (KY) for his freshman year looking to build on his already storied career. Zion is super talented and plays the game well above his years. He has a great feel for the game and just knows how to lead a team.
The thing that impresses me the most about Zion is how incredibly humble he is. He could be one of those athletes that is arrogant and just unapproachable. But he is willing to take every picture and sign every autograph. Harmon is also very in touch with his faith and acknowledges that he has a God given talent. He plays this game for the God's glory and he is an example of what being strong in your faith can do. Zion Harmon will continue to do great things as long as he keeps God first.
