- Louisville, KY:  Aspire Academy recently made the move from Arizona to Louisville, KY; becoming the first prep academy to be located in the Derby City. The Wizards had a successful inaugural season last year and are looking to be even stronger for the 2017-2018 season. This team will be very competitive and has some very good players on the roster. The biggest and most notable name on the roster is Charles Bassey aka "Big Ticket".

Bassey is currently ranked as the #3 overall prospect for the 2019 class nationally. He played on the Adidas Gauntlet with Yes II Success (TX) and also participated in the Adidas Nations. He's played in every high profile camp and event in the country as he continues to rise in the rankings. Charles will showcase his talent along side his Aspire Wizards teammates on the The Grind Session, an elite high school winter circuit. The Grind Session includes other high profile prep academies such as Huntington Prep, Hillcrest Prep, and Prolific Prep.

I got my first look at Bassey when he participated in the John Lucas Midwest Invitational in Louisville last year. He stood out to me as a future high D1 prospect with the chance to be a future pro. That opinion has not changed for me. As I witnessed him play in Aspire's Red/White Scrimmage yesterday, it was easy to see why he's ranked as high as he is, with the potential to be the #1 prospect in his class. Bassey has good size (6'11) and length. He also has good quickness and speed for a forward his size. He was able to score in a variety of ways. He can seal and post his man, then turn to either shoulder for a score. He also has good range on his shot, even able to step out away from the paint and knock down some 3's. Bassey also is an excellent rebounder and passes well. But like any diamond in the rough, he has some aspects of his game that needs polishing. Charles has good but not great handle but seems to be improving. Footwork is good but still needs work. Bassey can develop into a great help side defender but needs to work on timing and positioning. Would love to see him chase more blocks. Charles still has a lot of room for growth and development.Overall, I feel that Bassey is one of the best big men in the nation and has the potential to be a future NBA prospect.
