V4KWK Wildcats win Rumble at Rocky Top

V4KWK Wildcats
V4KWK = CHAMPIONSHIPS.....that seems like the outcome at any tourney that the V4KWK Wildcats have been in lately. The Wildcats are already 20-1 at this point in the AAU season and don't look to be slowing down. This team has won the 5th Grade KY AAU State Championship, the Nightrydas Invitational in Houston, and now the Coast2CoastPreps Rumble at Rocky Top. All of these in a matter of a few weeks. They had to defeat Sons of Thunder and New Heights, two top teams in the 2024 class to take the title. It does help when you have 3 of the top players in the your class on the same team. Brooklyn Vick, Travis Perry and Kohen Rowbatham are all highly ranked in the c/o 2024 but you must be able to bring it all together. That's where this team is special. They play with no egos and seem to really enjoy playing with each other. When you have chemistry, it can take you a long way. I'm pretty sure we'll see this team hoist more championship trophies this season.

Louisville Magic makes NYBL debut

Louisville Magic 2023

The Louisville Magic 2023 team has been a dominant force locally so far this year, over matching nearly every team in their age group in Louisville. So it was only right for them to test their metal against higher level competition. The 5th annual season of the NYBL kicked off this past weekend in Washington, DC and the Magic were there for the 1st session of this challenging league. This group went 3-2 for the weekend with wins against the Cincinnati Royals (OH), Swish Basketball (IL), and Bridge City Basketball (PA). Their only losses came to Team Teague (IN). The Magic were up to the challenge to prove themselves against other nationally ranked teams. The competition won't get any easier as they play in the future NYBL sessions, but this group will get better. This team is up and coming so don't be surprised if they are soon talked about as one of the best in the 2023 class.

BCR Releases 2020 Pre-Spring Watchlist

This year several freshmen players made a name for themselves in their inaugural season of high school ball. A handful created buzz as key contributors to their varsity squads, while others did the same by dominating the JV and Freshman level. This class has good depth with a handful of established national prospects as well as a plethora of athletes who will make a splash this spring as the AAU season begins. This list is based strictly off of who we have watched ONLY. Without further a due, here are some of the players included on the list:

Justin Powell - Justin played a key role on one of the top teams in the state, the Trinity Shamrocks. As a freshman, he averaged just over 5 points and 4 rebounds. The stats don't tell the whole story because he had plenty of moments that were key for his team. He is a top prospect to keep on every coaches' radar.

James Taylor Jr - The poised point guard was a joy to watch this season. He ran his team like a veteran during his freshman campaign, often making the right plays at the right time.Whether it was getting a needed bucket or throwing a perfectly timed pass to his teammate, Taylor usually made the best basketball play. He is not easily rattled as many opposing coaches stated. Taylor will be running with Hoop Dreams this spring and summer. Looks like he will continue to rise up scouts' boards.

Roger McFarlane - Roger McFarlane is a flat out scorer. He averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds per game but notably scored 26 in a King of The Bluegrass tournament that is historically one of the best in the country. He has a good shooting stroke and can score inside and out. Look for him to have a good summer on the Under Armour circuit with Team Thad.

Ksuan Casey - Ksuan is a player who holds some of the most potential out of this group as the top big man in the state. At 6'8 boasting a 240 pound frame, he is a force on the inside. He almost resembles a young Kennedy Meeks body wise and has the potential to become a inside and mid-range threat as his game grows. He averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds on the season and looks to continue this throughout the Adidas Gauntlet with Hoop Dreams

Also here are some players who are set to break out this spring

- Howard Fleming /6'3 SG/ Louisville Magic
- Chesimon Moore /6'5 W/ Hoop Dreams
- Amari Taylor /6'1 PG/ CKY Magic
- Tre Coleman /6'5 W/ Louisville Legends
- Julien Hunter /6'3 W/ Louisville Legends

BCR Spotlight: Jaden Rogers (Louisville, KY)

2021 Jaden Rogers - KY

Jaden Rogers is regarded as one of the top players in Kentucky's class of 2021 . He currently plays for Ramsey Middle in Louisville but also gets JV and varsity minutes at Jeffersontown High School. Once you see him play, you'll see why he is held in such high regard.

Listed at 5'9", Rogers is able to split duties at the lead and off guard positions. He can facilitate the offense with his great passing ability and court vision. Rogers has an ability to see plays develop before everyone else on the court. Can score at all levels but can change the game with his playmaking ability alone. Rogers is a good athlete that finishes at the rim well. Stays poised and doesn't get rattled during crucial points in games.

He recently played on the AAU circuit with GHITP Elite and had some very good showings. His 29 point game in a win against All-Ohio Purple at the Nike Summer Championships helped him gain national attention. He also had a strong showing at the prestigious Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase.

Jaden has the skills and drive to be a high level prospect. BCR looks forward to Rogers' development and will continue to follow him throughout his high school career.
